I have just come across this amazing educational tool for low literacy communities and children.

It's the Speaking Book – with just a press of a button each page is read in a language the user can understand.

I would like to think that I was one of the first to discover this life changing intervention but Speaking Books has already published more than 45 titles in 20 languages covering a wide variety of diseases and health programs and social development issues. With distribution in 25 countries, this innovation has a large following.

Their client list is most impressive from Governments and major NGO's to UNICEF, USAID, UNESCO, and particularly impressive is that they have not only worked with 5 of the worlds top 10 pharmaceuticals, but Pfizer alone has 15 different Speaking Book titles in their library – each one serving a particular community and health requirement.

So from HIV and AIDS, TB, and Malaria to Clinical Trials, Vaccines, Getting Government Grants, Speaking books have either created the book, or will work with the client to write, record, illustrate and produce the exact requirement for the particular community in a style and language that is culturally appropriate.

Each Speaking Book reaches multiple users making this such a low cost per person intervention. I really think the Speaking Book is well worth considering
